July 9, 2009 - Patient Eligibility Notes
(applies to Suzy Dental)

1 - Enrollment

Certain providers require enrollment before they will allow you to check patient eligibility.

Here is the current list:

NamePayer Id(s)
California Medicaid (Dentical)94146
Massachusetts MedicaidCKMA1
Florida MedicaidCKFL1
New York MedicaidCKNY1/CKNY2
United ConcordiaCX002/CX013/CBPA2

You can access the enrollment forms by clicking here

Note that both California Medicaid and Massachusetts Medicaid require userids and passwords.   These will be sent to you once you have enrolled.  This information must then be entered into Suzy (System->Master File Maintenance->Insurance Master File) for each of these insurance companies so that Suzy can use the userid/password when it tries to check eligibility.

2 - Problems Finding Patients

Occassionally Suzy will not find a patient even though the patient has a current policy and claims have been paid from this policy.  A common reason for this is that the patient's name in Suzy does not match the name in the insurance company's records.  The claims get paid because human intervention will allow the insurance company to verify that this is the correct person.   Unfortunately no such intervention occurs during our eligibility check.

If the eligibility returns with "Patient Not Found" (or the equivalent), check any correspondence (such as a claim) you may have from the insurance company and see if the patient name matches what is in Suzy.  If the names do match or this information is not available you will have to call the insurance company to verify eligibility.
