Actions will close when they have hit their target sample size and any quota requirements, or when the survey duration time frame has passed. Here are some troubleshooting tips to identify any issues that may prevent your action from closing as expected:
My action shows it’s overfilled.
At Suzy, we don’t charge per response, so there are no penalties for any automatic overfilling or oversampling the platform does on your behalf. This automatic overfilling can happen for a few reasons:
Many respondents entered your action at the same time. Sometimes, when you have broad targeting, many respondents can enter your survey at the same time and it will register as an overfilled action.
You have quotas or a gender split on your action. Sometimes, 1+ quota groups or genders will oversample while 1+ groups are not filled yet. This is an expected behavior, where the platform will trim any excess respondents once all quota groups have been met. If you need to close your action before your quotas are met, here’s what you can expect.
Our team has flagged low quality responses. We have a series of quality measures that monitor responses as they come in, and if our team notices any low quality responses, we will flag them while your survey is live. The platform will continue accepting additional responses to replace any flagged responses. If you need to close your action before all flagged responses have been replaced, here’s what you can expect.
Your action is a MaxDiff survey. If a respondent drops off a MaxDiff action without answering all the MaxDiff questions in the action, they weren’t exposed to all attributes, which would have a negative effect on the attribute exposure balance. To accommodate this scenario, our platform will accept additional responses to replace any respondents who drop off. We do not recommend you close a MaxDiff survey early, even if it appears to have oversampled. However, if you need to close your MaxDiff action before it reaches the minimum required sample size, here’s what you can expect.
My action is filling very slowly.
As you add targeting settings to an action, you’re often narrowing the number of respondents who can qualify for your study, which will impact your fielding time. There are two main causes for actions that are slow to fill:
You’re retargeting an outdated action. If you’re retargeting a previous action that was launched 3+ months ago, we recommend cloning and relaunching that previous action and then updating your targeting on your current survey to target the most recently launched version.
You have too many targeting criteria. If you’re targeting a niche group with lots of retargeting, demographic, quota, segment and/or panel criteria, we recommend you revisit those source groups to make sure there are enough respondents that fit your criteria. For example, if you’re retargeting male pediatricians and only 200 male respondents indicated they were a pediatrician in your screening question, your new action will never fill beyond the 200 qualified respondents.
