Before you participate in any Suzy Live interviews, there are a few technical requirements we need to review with you first.
General Best Practices:
- Google Chrome (preferably the latest version) works best when participating in Suzy Live interviews. Other compatible browsers include: Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.
- Ensure your computer and browser settings allow access to your microphone, speaker, and screen sharing. More steps on this are below!
- Bluetooth headphones are not recommended. Try a wired set instead.
- Close any other applications utilizing your microphone and/or speaker equipment.
Below are steps to set you up properly for a Suzy Live Interview:
Step 1) Enable Your Video & Audio
When you join a Suzy Live interview in your browser, you will need to enable permission to your camera & microphone. Below is the screen that you will see before joining any interview. Details on how to enable these permissions are specified for your browser below.
First:
- Mac Users: Check your System preferences → Security and Privacy → Privacy tab → Camera to make sure your browser is enabled. Then go to Microphone to make sure your browser is enabled.
- PC Users: Check your computer's settings around permissions/privacy for the camera and microphone. Ensure each device is enabled.
Second:
- If you are using Google Chrome: Head to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and Microphone to make sure you aren’t blocking Suzy Live and are allowing access. Then, at the start of an interview, a dialog box will appear asking for permission to access your camera & microphone. After allowing, you will be asked to confirm which camera & microphone to connect to. If you are having trouble gaining access, click the lock icon in the URL field to ensure you are providing access for your camera and microphone.
- If you are using Firefox: Head to Options --> Privacy & Security → Permissions → Camera settings and Microphone settings to make sure you aren’t blocking Suzy Live and are allowing access. Then, at the start of an interview, a dialog box will appear asking for permission to access your camera & microphone. After allowing, you will be asked to confirm which camera & microphone to connect to.
- If you are using Microsoft Edge: Head to Settings → Site permissions → Camera and Microphone to make sure you aren’t blocking Suzy Live and are allowing access. Then, at the start of an interview, a dialog box will appear asking for permission to access your camera & microphone. After allowing, you will be asked to confirm which camera & microphone to connect to. If you are having trouble gaining access, click the lock icon in the URL field to ensure you are providing access for your camera and microphone.
- If you are using Safari: Head to Preferences → Websites → Camera and Microphone to make sure you aren’t blocking Suzy Live and are allowing access. Then, at the start of an interview, a dialog box will appear asking for permission to access your camera & microphone. After allowing, you will be asked to confirm which camera & microphone to connect to.
- If you are using your Phone: iOS and Android devices ask for permission to turn on audio & video when joining a Suzy Live interview.
Step 2) Enable Screen Sharing (for Moderators only)
- If you are using Google Chrome: When you go to share your screen, a dialog box will appear in the browser where you can select what application to share.

If you are using Firefox: When you go to share your screen, an icon will appear in your browser URL asking for permission to share your screen. Select what you want to share, and then click Allow.

- If you are using Microsoft Edge: When you go to share your screen, a dialog box will appear in the browser where you can select what application to share.

If you are using Safari: Head to your browser’s preferences. Then go to Websites → Screen Sharing → Make sure you are allowed to screen share. A dialog box will also appear asking for permission to share your screen.
