National Representation (Preset Quota)

What is National Representation?

National Representation (Nat-rep) describes a sample that is representative of the population by 1-3 attributes (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity, etc.). In this regard, some component of the sample mirrors the population, based on the US census.

What is Suzy’s Definition of National Representation?

At Suzy, our current national representative quotas are for age and gender only. Users can select from 3 nationally representative breakdowns based on age requirements: 15+, 18-65, or 21-65. Below are breakdowns for each of these options:

When should I use National Representation?

You should use nationally representative quotas if you need your sample to look like the population. If you’re targeting a specific user (e.g. Walmart shoppers, Football watchers), national representation is not the best use case as these groups do not mirror the US population.

Using National Representation on an Action

To make sure your survey or question is set to national representation - select the 'Preset Quotas' option on the Audience Page. You'll see National Representation options appear under Quotas. Click on the desired quota will now field to Suzy’s definition.

Note: When targeting to National Representation, the Suzy platform may adjust your total respondent count to ensure quotas are met! The number of respondents you specify on the audience page might be higher on the review page due to these adjustments.

National Representation FAQs

How do I check the progress of my project that is targeting to National Representation Quotas?

In the details page of your live action, you’ll be able to see the current status of each quota against the number it should be fielding for?

In the results page, you’ll see if your data is fielding, processing, or ready to be pulled.

My results say “processing.” What does that mean?

When your results are processing, the Suzy platform is going through the current respondents to ensure that your completed data will have the correct percentages of each age/gender group that make up your quota. Although it will remove any excess respondents, you will remain with the number of respondents you originally set your quotas for.

My survey/question is taking too long in field, what happens if I close my action too early?

If you close your survey/question early, you won’t achieve the national representation quotas. Instead any excess respondents that are part of a completed quota would be removed and all other respondents will remain within your data.
